What to prepare before your property website gets built

A website build moves fastest when the content exists before the design starts, not after. Here's what's worth having ready, even in rough form, before the first conversation.

Your core pages, mapped out

  • A list of what you actually want on the site, homepage, projects, about, contact, and anything specific to you
  • Which pages matter most right now, and which can come later

You don't need a finished sitemap. You need a sense of priority, so the build focuses on what matters first.

Project and portfolio material

  • Photos or CGIs for every project you want featured
  • Key facts for each one, location, type, status, completion date
  • Any results worth highlighting, sold out speed, price achieved, occupancy

The projects page is often the most visited page on the whole site. It's worth getting the material together properly, not as an afterthought.

Words about you and your team

  • A short summary of your business and how you work
  • Names, roles and photos for anyone who should appear on the about page
  • Any awards, memberships, or partnerships worth mentioning

The practical details

  • Contact details you want displayed, phone, email, address
  • Domain name, or whether one still needs registering
  • Any existing brand assets, logo files, brand colours, fonts

What you don't need to prepare

Finished copy for every page, or a finished design direction. Rough notes and a clear sense of what matters most are enough to start properly.
